Ms Christie-Keiko Abe (Earl)
An Australian violinist/pianist, Christie-Keiko Abe (Earl) performs as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician. She has given solo recitals in the USA, Austria, Japan, and Australia.
She received her Bachelor of Music degree with Honors from The Sydney Conservatorium ofMusic at The University of Sydney, her Master of Music from the Australian Institute of Music, her PhD Specialist in Music in performance with Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honors from The University of Michigan School of Music, and post-graduate program Artist Certificate in performance from The University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Music where she served as an assistant to Prof. DavidPerry. She has attended master-classes ofDorothy Delay, Cho-Liang Lin, Pamera Frank, Igor Ozim, Ruggiero Ricci and Igor Oistrakh. She also studied Suzuki Pedagogy for Violin and Piano at the Capital University Suzuki Institute of Ohio, and the Chicago Music Institute of Illinois.
As a soloist performer, Ms Abe has appeared with the Sydney Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra, Neuqua Valley Symphony Orchestra, the Schubertiade Series, Saturday at Sherwood, Columbia College Chicago Recital Series, Metropolis Performing Arts Center Classical concert series, Australian Musicians Academy Recital Series, Starling recital series in Aspen, Akademie Konzert series in Austria, International Chamber Artists Recital series, Concert series sponsored by the Chicago Japanese American Association, and Sound Stage for the WTTW 11 and ABC television networks.
She has recorded on the NAXOS, Arabesque,and Albany labels with the IRIS Orchestra, and the Equillibrim label with the Chicago Philharmonic Orchestra. Among many others, Ms. Abe is a founding member of the Chicago Trio,Chicago Trio Chamber Music Workshop, the Ensemble312 ( Abe-Bukvich Duo), Viaggio Duo (Japan) and the IRIS Orchestra under music director Michael Stern in Memphis, Tennessee. She is also a member of the Chicago Philharmonic Orchestra. She was the Concertmaster at the Michigan Musical Theater Orchestra, International Pacific Music Festival and Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra.
A sought-after teacher, Ms Abe served as a faculty member at the Blue Lake Fine Arts camp in Michigan, a residency coach at the Chicago Youth Symphony, Merit School of Music, and the Hyde Park Suzuki Institute. From 2005 until 2010, she served as the Head of the String Department at the Metropolis School of the Performing Arts in Illinois, where she founded the chamber music and ensemble programs. From 2009-2019, She was a faculty member in the String , Piano and Suzuki Departments, Staff accompanist at the the Columbia College Chicago, Continuing and community education. She has given master classes at several schools, and is frequently invited to serve on juries at competitions and auditions.
In 2015, she was awarded the Suzuki Association of the America’s Certificate of Achievement, an award given to teachers that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to excellence in their teaching.
Her major teachers include Harry Curby, David Perry, Paul Kantor, Masao Kawasaki.
She has studied piano with Junko Nagata, Gabriella Pusner, Margaret Hair, Russian concert pianists, Oleg Stepanov and Prof. Lev Vlassenko from the Moscow Conservatory.
Ms Abe maintains a private Violin and Piano Studio in Chicago and active accompanist in the Chicago area and is a director at Chicago Trio Chamber Music workshop.

6歳よりピアノ，9歳よりバイオリンを学ぶ。 武蔵野音楽大学音楽教室に通いピアノを永田順子、バイオリンを桐朋音楽大学音楽教室講師、上西玲子に師事。12歳の時オーストラリアに移住。シド ニー音楽院(Sydney Conservatorium)を卒業し、Australian Institute音楽院でマスターを取得後アメリカに渡り、ミシガン大学音楽院でPh.D演奏家コースを Ki Kappa Lambda Music Honors を受賞し卒業、ウィスコンシン大学・マディソンでPost Graduateアーティスト ディプロマを取得。
シドニーバイオリン・ピアノコンクール や ＡＳＴＡAmerica National Competitionなどで一位、その他数々の国際コンクールで受賞歴多数。これまでにPacific音楽祭、モーツアルティウム音楽アカデミーやアスペン音楽祭に奨学生として参加。Blue Lake音楽キャンプで講師を勤め、バイオリンマスタークラスやシカゴトリオ主催の室内楽夏期講習などを行っている。2005～2010年はメトロポリス音楽教室の弦楽科主任を勤め、室内楽やメトロポリス弦楽合奏プログラムを設立した。2009年秋からはColumbia College シカゴ・ シャーウッド 音楽院のバイオリン教師に就任し、2012年にはピアノ教師に就任、伴奏者としても活躍している。現在 バイオリン、ピアノ(Traditional style and Suzuki method) 、室内楽、鈴木グループクラスを指導。また、コンクールやオーディションなどで優秀な成績をおさめる生徒を育てている。 2015年には Suzuki Association of the America’s Certificate of Achievementを優秀指導者として受賞する。
米国鈴木メソード才能教育協会・SAA (Suzuki Association of the Americas) 正会員。
現在は、故アイザック スターンの息子、マイケル スターン指揮の IRIS Orchestraの メンバーであり、Chicago Philharmonic, Chicagoland Pops Orchestra, Ravinia Festival Orchestra,Camerata Chicago, Elgin Symphony Orchestraなどでも活躍中。日本、オーストラリア、アメリカでソロリサイタルも行っている。クラシックのみならず IL DIVOのツアーコンサートや Broadway Musicalツアー、WTTW 11 のSoundstage、オプラショーなどDVDやテレビにも出演し活躍している。
これまでに、バイオリンを ハリー・ カービー、ポウル・ カンター、デイビット ・ペリー、川崎雅夫、イリア・カーラー、デイビット・ テイラー、アルバート・イゴルニコフ、チン・ホー、イゴール・ オージム、イゴール・オーイストラフ、ルジェーロ・ リッチ に師事。
ピアノはマーガレット・ ヘアー、ガブリエル・プスナー、そしてモスクワ音楽院からの講師故レブ・ ブラセンコ、 オレッグ ス・テパノフ に師事。
